Qi Deficiency

  • Symptoms: Lochia lasts for too long, large amount, pale colour, thin quality, no foul smell, tired shen, weak limbs, short of breath and indolence of speech, empty and sinking feelings in Xiao Fu, puffy and a white face.
  • Tongue: Pale tongue with thin white coating
  • Pulse: Moderate and Weak
  • Treatment strategy: Tonify qi to control blood
  • Formula: Bu Zhong Yi Qi Tang
  • Acupoints:

Blood Heat

  • Symptoms: Lochia lasts for too long, large amount, dark red colour, thick and sticky quality, foul smell, dry mouth and throat and a flush face.
  • Tongue: Red tongue with little coating
  • Pulse: Thready, Rapid and Weak
  • Treatment strategy: Nourish yin, clear away heat and cool blood to stop bleeding
  • Formula: Bao Yin Jian

Blood Stasis

  • Symptoms: Lochia lasts for too long, small amount and dripping, dull colour with clots, pain in Xiao Fu refusing palpation and eased by discharge of clots
  • Tongue: Dull purple tongue with ecchymoses
  • Pulse: Wiry and Uneven
  • Treatment strategy: Activate blood, resolve stasis and lead blood back to its Jing
