Definition

Suppurative infection of the breast caused by bacteria (mostly staphylococcus aureus, sometimes staphylococcus albus or Bacillus coli and Escherichia coli). Lactation with nipple splitting or milk retention 3-4 weeks after child birth and for first time mothers.
