Definition
Suppurative infection of the breast caused by bacteria (mostly staphylococcus aureus, sometimes staphylococcus albus or Bacillus coli and Escherichia coli). Lactation with nipple splitting or milk retention 3-4 weeks after child birth and for first time mothers.

- Symptoms: Lump in breast with unclear boundary with throbbing pain. Redness, swelling and hot feeling on the skin. Lymph nodes swelling on the same side. Fever or high fever, rigor, sweating, thirst and loss of appetite.
