Definition

Erection failure of the penis, equivalent to erectile dysfunction.

Heart Fire exuberance leads to disharmony between Fire (Heart) and Water (Kidney): e.g. hyper sexual desire
Damp Heat disturbs the “essence house”: e.g. spicy food and alcoholic drinks
Qi fails to control Essence - Heart and Spleen: e.g. overwork, worry and pensiveness
Deficient Kidney fails to control Essence: e.g. intemperance and indulgence of sexual activity (early sexual life, masturbation, etc), Constitution deficient Kidney.
Injury to the kidney caused by fright and fear.

Disharmony between the Heart and Kidney due to Fire

Symptoms: Nocturnal emission with many dreams and insomnia, dysphoria, feverish sensation in heart, palpitation, dizziness and blurred vision, tiredness and lassitude, lack of shen, dry mouth, short and scanty urination.
Tongue: Red tongue
Pulse: Thready and Rapid
Treatment strategy: Clear heart and calm shen, nourish yin and clear heat
Formula: Huang Lian Qing Xin Yin or Zhi Bai Di Huang Wan or Da Bu Yin Wan

Symptoms: Frequent seminal emission, semen discharge with urination, dark and turbid urination with hot sensation or dribbling, dysphoria, bitter mouth, ulcer in mouth and tongue, loose, foul and sticky faeces, stuffy epigastrium and abdomen.
