Definition
A group of varicose veins under the mucous membrane at the end of the rectum or under the skin in the anus.
Classifications
- Internal hemorrhoids: above the dentate line, mostly seen at 3, 7 and 11 o’clock
- External hemorrhoids: beneath the dentate line. There are 2 types: connective tissue hemorrhoids and varicose vein hemorrhoids
- Mixed hemorrhoids: mixture of internal and external hemorrhoids
