Definition
A condition with bleeding as the main symptom caused by failure of blood to circulate in the vessels and blood discharges via the anus (hematochezia).
Causes and Pathological Mechanisms
- Improper Diet: alcohol and spicy food – stomach and intestines
- Overwork: Heart, Spleen and Kidney impiarments
- Qi Deficiency
- Yin Deficiency
- After febrile diseases and protracted illnesses

Intestine Damp Heat
- Symptoms: Defecation of bright red blood, sticky bowl movement, loose faeces, with or without abdominal pain and a bitter taste in the mouth.
- Tongue: Yellow and greasy tongue coating
- Pulse: Soggy and Rapid
- Treatment strategy: Clear and eliminate damp-heat and cool blood to stop bleeding
