Using CMTpedia

CMTpedia is an open access online encyclopedia for Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture. Its purpose is to provide a wide range of information to public and practitioners alike.

CMTpedia pages can be viewed by all including non registered members. However, only those that have registered an account and are healthcare professionals can edit pages on CMTpedia. This is to help prevent spam and maintain a high quality of content.

To navigate around the site, you can use the navigation toolbar on the left hand side of the screen as well as by linking on links contained within the text on pages. Simply look out for blue highlighted words within the page text.

Registered members will have the added benefit of seamless access to the CMT forum system. For discussions about content included in CMTpedia, please use its purposely built forum.

Links have been added to aid easy navigation to the CMT journal and forum. A search function allows for advanced searching of CMTpedia. There are also special functions available within the toolbox. For example, you can see what links to a specific page, special pages, making a page print friendly and soon a PDF export function.

Creating a New Page

To create a page you need to add a link from an existing page. Firstly, you need to register an account. Once you've registered an account, find the page want to create a link from. You'll see a link at the top of the page titled 'edit'. Click on this. Enter the information you want to add and surround the keywords of the title of the page you want to create with [[ ]]. For example, to create a page called Test, insert the word (starting with a Capital letter) into the symbols [[ ]]. Click save and you'll see your new link in red font. Click on that, enter your information and click save. There, you've just created a new page.

Editing a Page

To edit a page, you must be logged in as a healthcare professional. To edit a whole page, click the 'edit' link at the top of the page. To edit a specific category, click 'edit' on the right hand side, level with the category title.

When editing a page, please do not remove the google tags at the bottom of the page.
