Definition

• Female over 18 years old, no menarche and no menstruation – primary Bi Jing
• Menstruation stops for more than six months – secondary Bi Jing

Kidney Qi Deficiency

• Symptoms: Delayed menarche or scanty menstruation followed by amenorrhoea, dizziness and tinnitus, achy lower back and weak knees, frequent urination, lack of libido.
• Tongue: Pale tongue with thin white coating
• Pulse: Deep and Thready
• Treatment strategy: Strengthen kidney, tonify qi and nourish blood to regulate menstruation
• Formula: Da Bu Yuan Jian
• Acupoints:

Kidney Yin Deficiency

• Symptoms: Delayed menarche or scanty menstruation followed by amenorrhoea, dizziness and tinnitus, achy lower back and weak knees, pain in the heels, hot feeling at 5 centres, tidal fever, night sweat, vexation, insomnia, malar flush, red lips.
• Tongue: Red tongue with little or no coating
• Pulse: Thready and Rapid
• Treatment strategy: Nourish kidney, replenish yin and nourish blood to regulate menstruation

Kidney Yang Deficiency

• Symptoms: Delayed menarche or scanty menstruation followed by amenorrhoea, dizziness and tinnitus, lower back pain as if it is broken, aversion to cold, cold limbs, clear and profuse urine, frequent night urination, loose faeces, dull face and dark eye rings.
