In the Philippines, Chinese food is most often equated with Cantonese food while retaining some of the Fujian influences (since most Chinese here are Fujianese in origin). Personally, I like Hunan and Cantonese cuisines. What about you guys?:p

I think mine has to be Gai Lan.
Sort of steamed/cooked Chinese Broccoli in ginger.
It never let's me down but you can't always get in resturaunts.

We have several Chinese buffet-style places in Sarasota FL, all you can eat for around $7. However, I usually order a plate of something or other (many selections) for about $4 and it is always more than I *should* eat. I go to one or the other of these most every day. It costs less than fixing my own meal at home.

Hi Dr. Philip!

I wonder if the buffet arrangement Is prevalent in China? Seems to me that the emphasis of many buffet users is "consuming mass quantities" after the old "conehead" skit on "Saturday Night Live".

I don't usually order the buffet when I am trying to eat sensibly. The smallest ala carte plate dinner is more food than the recommended quantity, at least at our local Chinese Buffet versions in Sarasota.

In China buffets for foreign cuisines are starting to be popular, especially in hotels. I do remember this all-you-can-eat sushi place in Nanjing... never went there but my classmates did.
