Hi all,

LOCH LOMOND, Scotland (AFP) - Hong Kong Open winner Jose Manuel Lara has revealed how a Korean acupuncturist helped him salvage a career he feared could be wrecked by a painful Achilles injury.

Lara, 30, capped a steady rise up the ranks of the European Tour when he triumphed at Fanling in November.

But just as he appeared set for greater things, the Spanish star found himself handicapped by pain in his left heel that was, at times, so severe he could hardly walk.

Since the win in Hong Kong, his best results on the tour have been a couple of ties for 44th place and he has been forced to retire injured in three tournaments.

"I don't know how I did it," Lara revealed after posting a second-round 65 to earn a share of the lead at the three-million-pound Scottish Open going into Saturday's third round.

"I was at home for two months and the doctors were doing all sorts of tests and trying everything. They thought it was maybe coming from a problem in the back.

"But the only guy who has made me feel much better is a Korean guy I was introduced to in Valencia who gave me some acupuncture.

"It was the last thing, I tried it and it works. If I tell you the truth I was desperate, nobody could tell me what I had and he was the only guy who could make me feel better.

"He put needles in my thumbs, arms, legs -- many places, and over two months I gradually got better. I'm still not 100 percent but it is much better.

"I can't run or do anything in the gym or with weights but I can work, I can hit the ball in drills which before I couldn't.

"Now the acupuncturist -- Cho -- is a good friend. I won't tell you how much I'm paying him but he's a three-handicap golfer and I've played with him a few days, so we made a deal."
